Dear members
Bargate Old Street appeal
Still no news of the Inspector’s decision.
Members’ meeting Monday evening 6 June
Attached are summary notes of our meeting on Monday. Tom Waldron the engineer (the second speaker, for those who were there) has also sent a number of time lapse videos showing the tunnel work. (On some of them, you may have to put up with adverts for Duracell batteries or such things at the start, but they all then progress to show you the work).

Devolution: Mayoral Combined County Authority
Those with good memories will recall that there will be a Mayoral Combined County Authority bringing together all the local authorities in Hampshire & the IoW, with a mayor being elected in May 2028. The plan is that central government will devolve considerable decision making and funds to this more local level. The local authorities have, this month, decided to set up a committee to ‘foreshadow’ the formal Combined Authority and to get the local authorities working together in advance.
A further reminder: Local Government Re-organisation is a separate issue, aiming to create ‘unitary authorities’ across the whole area (Portsmouth, Havant, Gosport and Fareham for us): the aim is for them to come into being in 2028 and they will then be part of the Combined County Authority described above.
