HHRA Update 1 May 2024

Photo ID

A final reminder that you must have photographic ID in order to vote in person tomorrow.  The most obvious items are: driving licence; passport; bus pass; defence ID.

Closure of Hill Head Road

Hill Head Road will be closed to allow the demolition of the Osborne View from Monday 13 May, possibly until 28 June (although it is hoped to complete it in nearer to four weeks).  We understand it will be closed between Crofton Lane and Old Street/Cliff Road, with vehicle access only for residents (and presumably deliveries).  We assume pedestrian access will remain.  Breezes cafe confirms they will still be open for business and will welcome all comers!

Although inevitably this will be a disruptive process, it is encouraging that Hall & Woodhouse are taking this first step towards the replacement of the Osborne View.  We have asked them to keep us in touch.

Traffic lights on Knights Bank Road

From 7 May for up to eleven weeks, Portsmouth Water will be renewing the water main in Knights Bank Road.  Three way lights will be in place at the junctions with Little Gays and Haven Crescent.  Yes - this coincides with the closure of Hill Head Road reported above!

Haven House

We know that everyone is anxious to know what is happening about Haven House, where the For Sale sign remains on the outside wall and on Savills website despite HCC accepting an offer on 21 December.  The trustees of Titchfield Haven Community Hub wrote to the then Executive Member Councillor Russell Oppenheimer, on 10 April asking for information.  He replied saying he hoped to provide an update by the end of April.

Since then, he has been removed as Executive Member (see link on www.hhra.org.uk About Us Latest News)  and replaced with Councillor Kirsty North.  The THCH trustees will be writing to Cllr North next week to encourage her to communicate as a matter of urgency.

Scams

The usual ones continue to circulate with offers of a Samsung S24 and a B&Q De Walt drawer tool trolley currently doing the rounds.
